Statement of Need

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia in clinical practice and a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Due to the increasing age of the U.S. population, the "perceived" incidence of AF is increasing; however, patients may not notice symptoms that warrant care-seeking. This leads to physicians not having an index of suspicion relative to those at high risk for AF. Increased screening and use of anticoagulation treatment can help high-risk patients and likely decrease the number of patients who are not diagnosed with AF until they have had an AF-related stroke.

In this CME Outfitters On Demand, expert faculty address the impact of under-diagnosed NVAF and the benefits and uses of screening tools and appropriate implementation of oral anticoagulant therapy.

Learning Objectives
